Martin Scaife, managing director of Mobi-Air, makers of hybrid air filtration platform, and Diaper Recycling Technology, makers of a new low energy air-less diaper recycling process, announced that the new CAD design office was opened in August 2015 and is already delivering quality engineering designs. “We previously had 28 design engineers spread across five offshore offices in India, Macedonia, China, Ukraine, and Vietnam.

In the hygiene sector, I have worked with a variety of engineering design projects and design teams from varied locations across the globe and have been truly impressed by the skills of the designers working in Ukraine. We were very pleased with two specific projects that Kiev delivered. After careful consideration, we decided to set up a dedicated design office located in Kiev to support Mobi-Air and our partner company Diaper Recycling Technology. We do not plan to close down our other offshore offices however we will adjust headcount in these locations and use these sites as backup staffing during high demand periods.

A key driver of the decision to expand in Kiev was the fact that while our offshore teams were delivering high-quality designs, much of this work was focused on converting our 2D design work into 3D with little modification to the original designs. Our Kiev engineers are masters of first principles engineering fundamentals and have the ability to enhance significantly our equipment concepts during the overall design process,” Scaife says.

Melvin Tan, Mobi-Air and Diaper Recycling Technology central operations manager adds: “The design work coming from Kiev has been of the highest quality. All drawing packages going into production are error-free and enable startup installations with no process issues. In addition, the staffing support that Kiev requires from our Singapore main office is minimal.”
